improving the citi 7 bus service

Residents of Rampton presented a petition to the County Council last week asking for the Citi 7 timetable to be modified to include a regular service to and from their village. It pointed out that many people live in the village and need easy access to Cambridge but that this is not provided today.

The petition was presented by Chris Dickinson supported by Sylvia Beaumont and was apparently well-received. It’s up to the Council now to consider its merits and to respond accordingly.

County Councillors Sue Gymer and David Jenkins (pictured above with Chris and Sylvia) support the petition and will work with Stagecoach and the Council to see what might be achieved.

New bus timetables postponed

Because of the delay to the hand-over of the guided busway, originally set for the end of this month and now postponed to an as yet unspecified date in 2010, the new bus timetables which had been due to come in this year have been postponed.

The new timetable for the Citi 7 service is now available. Click here to download a copy.

Key points to note include:

no services down Cambridge Road except during the daytime outside the morning and evening rush hours, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays;
service frequency reduced from 6/hour to 4/hour; and
earliest bus runs later and does not connect with the 07.15 train.

This is the new site for Citi 7 bus users and is intended to be a forum to collect and share views so that the service which this route provides to its users can be steadily improved.

It is not just for complaints, although there will certainly be plenty of those, but also for constructive suggestions. It is hoped that it will become a prime source of information which will support parish councils’ efforts to get Stagecoach to improve its service.
